This is not a direct answer to your question, but a related remark: I think
it is time to organize a one-day face-to-face meeting with a handful of
"experts" and discuss the Orocos and KDL roadmaps... Especially since there
are two new kids on the block (or rather, they are almost there...) Markus'
microblocs and Azamat's new hybrid dynammics solver (which will _not_ be a
traditional Class library, but rather a microblocs application). In
addition, there is the "model-driven engineering" evolution that should be
consolidated, that is, with a minimum of the integration of not-so-new
formal models for:
- geometry: frames and kinematic chains
- physical units

In my view, all of the above can (should!) be done in a way that does not
compromise the ongoing Orocos RTT and KDL evolutions: they are
_complements_, not replacements. But I do expect them to have an influence
on how developers should _use_ RTT and KDL...

I can offer some travel support to participants with "to good to miss"
contirbutions to such a developers meeting :-)

If it is possible to organize this meeting so that international developers could call/Skype in, then that would be very beneficial.

What about a 1.5-day meeting to let new developers in the Orocos ecosystem
introduce their work (new MDE flows/tools, new transports e.g. for distrib.
comm. (DDS?), new RTOSes support etc.) in a friendly and informal fashion
(i.e., short presentation + discussion for feedback and manifestation of
interest)?

I, for one, would be very interested in attending such a meeting.

Interesting ...

Thanks for the remark.
