Reviewing and merging pull requests is going on

Hi all,

We're currently reviewing+creating open pull requests and issues on the
github orocos-toolchain projects:

https://github.com/pulls?q=is%3Aopen+user%3Aorocos-toolchain

and we're merging them into master in order to prepare for Toolchain-2.8.
We're still open for discussion to do this release on top of rock 1408 or
on top of master ?

We're now focusing on testing the master branches though. Not all pull
requests are reviewed yet.

Much appreciation for the work Sylvain put in this the past months to get
us there.

What we propose:

We'll test this release on Ubuntu 12.04, 14.04 LTS and Mac OS-X.

For ROS users, the 2.8 release will only be available as Debian packages in
Indigo, on 14.04. Pre-indigo releases will stay packaged at 2.7. If you
want 2.8 for Hydro, you'll have to build from source for now.

Thanks for your input,
Peter

The quick start guide and the bootstrap.sh scripts for 2.6 (as 2.7 has not
been released) is completely broken on 14.04.
Would be good to have it work again for 2.8

Hi all,

it would be nice too if you could explicitly state linux/ros/orocos/rock
versions compatibility or at least tested or reference couples. I'm stuck
with orocos-2.5 and ros electric on a debian squeeze and I think I should
update a day, but I'd like to do this to a working set of versions.

Hi,
I can confirm, that ros groovy and rock1408 are working
together. For the correct installation, one needs to source
the ros workspace BEFORE doing the rock bootstrap.
Greetings

Hi Peter,
the release should be done on top of master, as rock1408 is frozen.
Master will then become the basis for the next upcoming release
which will most probably be released in 2 months (the release process for
rock is still work in progress and we didn't agree on the interval yet).
Greetings
