RTT and OCL v1.8.0 Released

There's the joy of coding, and there's the joy of sharing. With this release,
we hit a new peak of sharing contributed code. Better CORBA support,
better component loading, better application building. All contributed
by those who know best what's needed most: today's users.

Read all about it in the release notes below. For those upgrading from 1.6.x,
see the changes document below for all note-worthy changes.

We're still updating the website, but you can pull the sources from the links below.
Also Debian packages for 1.8.0 are not yet released.

The Orocos Real-Time Toolkit v1.8.0.

The Orocos development team is pleased to announce the next major
feature release of the Real-Time Toolkit, a C++ toolkit for building
component based, real-time robotics and machine control applications.

You can download this release from
http://www.orocos.org/stable/rtt/v1.8.0/orocos-rtt-1.8.0-src.tar.bz2
and read the installation instructions on
http://www.orocos.org/stable/documentation/rtt/v1.8.x/doc-xml/orocos-ins...

The Real-Time Toolkit (RTT) library allows application designers to
build highly configurable and interactive component-based real-time
control applications. This release's major feature highlights are:

* Event driven data ports allows components to react to new data.
* CORBA: Omniorb support as alternative to TAO.
* Usability improvements in the OCL library for data logging and
application building (deployment).
* Standard activity for each newly created component.
* Many small improvements suggested by the user community.

This release is backwards compatible with all 1.x.y releases, although
some functionality has been deprecated or alternative usage patterns
are preferred. These and other changes and improvements can be found
in the Orocos RTT Changes document on

Orocos Components Library (OCL) v1.8.0

This release of the Orocos Components Library is aimed at the
Real-Time Toolkit v1.8.0. and offers improved functionality for
distributed applications, motion interpolation and kinematics.

Major improvements are:
* Simplified Reporting Component XML setup file.
* Improved component loading/unloading in running applications.
* Improved Mac OS-X support.
* Improved Master-Slave configuration in application deployment.
* Allow site-specific application deployment file.
* Allow to automatically save component properties.
