Meeting in Leuven, 12th of February

I'll be in Leuven for a workgroup on the 11th. I was considering staying
the 12th as well, so that I could see some of the Leuven-living orocos
developers / users there ...

Anybody interested ?

OK ... So for the practical details ...

- how do we meet on the evening of the 11th ?
- who (if anobody) is willing to show me around at KUL on the 12th ?
- is there an interest in a more formal presentation of Rock / tooling
/ system management / ROS integration / whatever topic you would like /
at KUL on the 12th ?

I will arrange this. What time can we expect you?

Yes!! Personally I am really interested in this. Any presentation
regarding rock would be appreciated. In particular, one that focuses on
what rock can offer students and phd students working in robotics, and
how it compares/integrates with orocos.

Do you have any requests yourself, for instance things you wan to see or
talk about?

Depends a bit on you. 9:30 ? 10:00 ?

Will do that.

I am interested in talking about itasc, and having feedback from the
'orocos' crowd about rock ... maybe we could start the discussion and
finish it when you are in Bremen. On seeing, I am interested about
seeing everything ;-)

Needless to say I would like to learn more about syskit, the
underlying models and execution.

Hello,

I would be interested to join, but I would have to come from Delft
which is two to three hours by train.

We are currently writing a bunch of Ethercat drivers and I would
like to discuss how to publish them.

I won't be attending the Robotics MDE Workshop, I suppose this group
might meet anyway during the evening, so I might see first what the
plans are there. For the 12th, I need to be at a middleware 'advisory
board' of these people:
http://code.google.com/p/looci/wiki/Introduction and
http://distrinet.cs.kuleuven.be/projects/stadium/index.html in the
afternoon, but Ruben will still be at the office the whole day.

I think we should plan something for the evening. Worstcase, you join
the group ;-) I actually do have an appointment: with belgian beer. I'm
craving for some.

I arrive very late on the sunday, so nothing can be planned there. In
any case, would Ruben be interested to show me around at intermodalics ?

I would be happy to show you around at Intermodalics (which would be
pretty short given the size of the company ;) ), when would you like
to pay us a visit, on monday or tuesday?

These people have a very similar approach as we have, but for robust
communication and "context aware computing". In other words, they fit
nicely in the "Communications" gap that Orocos/RTT has decided not to do
itself (by design).

I would like more info about the Workshop: is it open to all (read: registration fees?), who are the speakers? Is there a program available?

==========

We would like to invite you to

3rd European Robotics MDE Workshop at Leuven  (11-12.2.2013 - 10h to 17h)

This is the third in a series of workshops focused on Model Driven Engineering
as applied to Robotics.

The first theme of this workshop will be current state of meta models developed
in Europe and how to integrate the different meta models. The meta models
provide different meta models and supporting tooling for generating component
based software for robotic platforms.

The second theme for this workshop will devoted to the discussion of the
formation of collaborations and possible funding opportunities.

The third theme is the preparation for the workshop “European Robotics Modelling
Initiative ” at European Robotics Forum, 19-21 March 2013 in Lyon.

The program below is for the first day of the workshop. The second day is free
form and will be defined from the previous day experience.

Program

Welcome - Herman Bruyninckx and Hugo A. Garcia

Morning session: Topics for Concrete Collaboration - Herman Bruyninckx

- Christian Schlegel - Separation of roles: challenges for MDSD
- Christian Schlegel - SmartSoft MDSD and its transformations: Meta-Model, PIM,
PSM, PSI
- Hugo A. Garcia - Meta model interoperability via transformations.
- Herman Bruyninckx - Meta model of composition: modelling and deployment
- Saadia DHOUIB, Bruno Patin and Cyril Novales- Model of autonomous mobile
robots
- Saadia DHOUIB - M2T transformations in RobotML

Lunch

Afternoon - Herman Bruyninckx

- Preparation for the PPP Topic Group on Model Driven Robotics Software

- Model and generator repository: Is there a need to exchange meta models and
generator code? Is there a need to compare and assess different approaches? If
yes, how could such a repository look like? What should it contain?

- Which problems does our modeling approach (really) solve? Which problems
remain open? How do we write the software and in addition what software we
write. For instance is it possible to write robotic algorithms (e.g. navigation
algorithms) without mentioning details about sensors and actuators?
(We expect participants to suggest contributions [max 5 min each])

- Preparation for the European Robotics Forum Workshop - Hugo A. Garcia -
selection of the of the topics for the the ERF, and construction of preparatory
material on the workshop website.
